If desired set the lines of the second roof to be slope defining except the roof line that will be coincident with the first roof or the wall.
After you sketch walls and a roof for your design sketch another roof that you want to join to the original roof.

Move the walls to the dormer.
Add a dormer to a roof and use the dormer opening tool to cut the opening for it.

Sketch mode is used to allow you to define the boundary of your roof.
Create a dormer opening.
Select the attach top base tool and then click the roof to attach the wall to the roof.
This happens to your wall it forms into the shape of the roof to cover the gap.
Click the green check to complete the opening.
